Our sixteen-year-old driver, Attila Bucsi made a fantastic entrance into the TCR Eastern Europe series, winning the qualifying session for Saturday’s race and narrowly beating the newly crowned champion Maťo Homola.
Just as the qualifying season began, a red flag was shown around the circuit. Antonio Citera spun out of the track in the last corner, causing race control to stop the qualifying session. However before the red flag, Attila Bucsi managed to set a time of 2:13.162, which was enough to secure the lead until the end of the session. Bucsi has a strong team supporting him, as M1RA Motorsport boasts significant expertise in the touring car world. Nevertheless, placing the Hyundai i30 N TCR on pole position surprised everyone, including Bucsi.
Maťo Homola, driving a Hyundai Elantra, finished second, just 0.087 seconds behind Bucsi. Homola’s teammates from Hyundai Janík Motorsport, Adam Kout and Carlo Czepiel, secured the fourth and fifth fastest times, respectively.
