2020
Global motorsport was also hit by the coronavirus epidemic in 2020. Other series have been affected as well, and the M1RA has adapted to the new, changed circumstances.
Safety was the primary consideration in the choice of championship, with the minimisation of travel being a prerequisite. With this in mind, the M1RA TCR Eastern Europe was launched as the Central and Eastern European Championship for the category. As in the previous two seasons, the team used a Hyundai i30 N TCR race car, with Serbian Dusan Borkovic, the 2015 European Touring Car Champion, as its new driver.
A rare feat for the M1RA in TCR Eastern Europe, as Dusan Borkovic won all the races of the season to take the championship title. Having secured first place with one round to go, the stakes for the season finale at the Hungaroring were to maintain a perfect performance, which they did: Borkovic won 8 out of 8 races.
In addition, the M1RA has increased its focus on junior training in 2020, and has lined up Attila Bucsi, aged just 12, in the Swift Cup Europe field. The young racer had an extremely successful year, winning the junior title and six absolute victories in the 1.6 class in 15 races this season, but was not scored in the overall because of his age, as internationally, points are not awarded under the age of 16.
